Gerald Ford died last night. He was the 38th president of the United States. During his administration, he pardoned Nixon for Watergate, which was a very unpopular action but showed that his actions were based on what he thought was ethical. Indeed, the pardon caused "our long national nightmare [to be] over." He was never elected to any political office (except a Congressional seat) before he was sworn in to replace the resigned Nixon. He led the United States through the aftermath of Watergate and the withdarwal from Vietnam. Today, we remember him for what he has done for our country.
